PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming an emulsion array, a device and a method of producing emulsion, and a method of releasing the emulsion, that enable a large amount of experimental data to be obtained with a small amount of reagent, in a short time, thereby improving the experimental efficiency. SOLUTION: The device includes a lower mold 1, having microchambers 2 formed on at least one side thereof, a lid 3 disposed in opposition to the lower mold 1, and a passage 4 formed between the lower mold 1 and the lid 3. An aqueous solution containing an object to be treated is filled into the passage 4, and a fluid, immiscible in the aqueous solution, is introduced into the passage 4, leaving the aqueous solution only in the microchambers 2 to form an emulsion.
