A method for controlling inter FA cell reselection using RRC(Radio Resource Control) state transition in a WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) system is provided to transit an RRC state of a UE into a cell PCH state through a cell update message and a measurement report message received from the UE of a cell FACH state, thereby preventing processing loads and excessive power consumption of the UE. If a UTRAN(Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network) receives a cell update message including a first cell ID(Identification) form a UE(User Equipment) where an RRC(Radio Resource Control) state is a cell FACH(Forward Access Channel) state, the UTRAN confirms whether a cell corresponding to the first cell ID is a cell configuring an FA(Frequency Allocation) boundary(S510, S515). If so, the UTRAN transmits a measurement control message including a measurement identifier corresponding to the cell to the UE(S525). If receiving a measurement report message corresponding to the measurement identifier from the UE, the UTRAN transits the RRC state of the UE into a cell PCH(Paging Channel) state(S535, S545). If receiving a cell update message including a second cell ID corresponding to the other frequency band from the UE transited to the cell PCH state, the UTRAN transits the RRC state of the UE into the cell FACH state(S565, S590). |
