<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which transfer paper separability after transfer is improved by lowering the surface potential of a front end of an image formation area. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an image carrier 1, a plurality of charging devices 2, 5 which charge the top of the image carrier 1, a plurality of latent image forming means 3, 6 which expose the top of the image carrier 1 to form electrostatic latent images, a plurality of developing means 4, 7 which develop the electrostatic latent images on the image carrier 1 to form toner images, and a transfer device 9 which allows the passage of the transfer paper, imposes an electric field thereto, and transfers the toner image on a photoreceptor to the transfer paper,in which a developing means 7 provided downstream among a plurality of development devices performs development without contact with the image carrier 1 and the exposure of only the front end of the image formation area performed by a latent image forming means 6 provided downstream, charging device 1, latent image forming means 3, and developing means 4 provided upstream is performed, and the pre-transfer destaticization is performed before the transfer to the transfer paper. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
