<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handover method in which problems associated with connection stability during a handover of a mobile station can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: When the mobile station in a state a4 moves from a cell #1 to a cell #2, the mobile station reports reception qualities of signals from a base station (#1) and a base station (#2) respectively to the base station (#1) in a state a5. When the base station (#1) judges that the base station (#2) is a candidate for a target station of a handover based upon the reported qualities, the base station (#1) instructs the base station (#2) and the mobile station to prepare for the handover in a state a6. Once instructed, the mobile station transmits a predetermined signal to the base station (#2) in a state a7. The base station (#2) measures the reception quality of the signal in a state a8 and reports the measurement result to the base station (#1) in a state a9.
