PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content reproducing apparatus or the like which surely reproduces data intended by a content provider while permitting the skip of reproduction of the data when the reproducing apparatus accepts the instruction to skip reproduction of the data, such as CMs in a specific reproduction section in the reproduction of the contents. SOLUTION: When the content reproducing apparatus receives the skip instruction from a user during reproduction of the contents, the apparatus determines whether the reproduction of the data in the reproduction section instructed by the user can be skipped or not, referring to additional information. When the result is negative, the apparatus reproduces alternative data in place of the data in the reproduction section to be skipped. The apparatus performs control to reproduce the data in the reproduction section following the reproduction section to be skipped after the completion of reproduction of the alternative data.
