PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cassette recognition method of a preparation device and its device capable of easily recognizing the presence range of tablet cassettes and a cassette specific even when the tablet cassette having a width nearly the same as a tablet sheet width is used. SOLUTION: This preparation device 1 is equipped with a catching unit 400 which moves in a prescribed space facing a plurality of tablet cassettes 500, 500, ... having a prescribed width and catches the tablet sheets 900, 900, ... respectively loaded in the longitudinal direction in respective tablet cassettes one by one. In this catching unit 400, a light sensor 432 for detecting the cassette position and a reader 431 for detecting the cassette specific are provided. The sides facing the catching unit 400 of respective tablet cassettes are respectively provided with a hole part 535 detectable by the light sensor 432 and an IC tag 534 detectable by the reader 431.
