The method involves locking a brake piston in a compressed state by a locking device for executing a certain braking process. A working storage is formed by lockable storage pressurized-space, storage piston and spring element. A transmission element is locked by an electromagnetic actuator, so that a relative movement between the transmission element and the storage piston is possible. The compression and release processes of the braking process are divided into phases. The detection of the phases is carried out using output signals from pressure sensors (42-44).
