A plasma display panel is provided to improve the bright room contrast by using subtractive mixture between elements of the panel, without separately forming a black stripe layer. A first substrate colored by a first color(40c) and a second substrate(20) colored by a second color(20c) are opposite to each other, and barrier ribs(16) colored by the second color are interposed between the first and second substrates to define plural discharge cells(18). Address electrodes(12) are extended on the first substrate in a first direction, and display electrodes are extended on the second substrate in a second direction crossing the first direction. A phosphor layer(19) is formed within each discharge cell, and a dielectric layer(14) colored by the first color is formed to cover the display electrodes. Light guides(30) are formed on the second substrate, and have an incident surface(30a) and an exit surface(30b). A member(40) for preventing reflection of external light is formed between the light guides and is colored by the first color.
