A plasma display panel is provided to reduce surface reflection of external light while absorption of the light emitted from a discharge cell is maximumly prevented. A front substrate(20) and a rear substrate(10) are opposite to each other, and barrier ribs(16) are interposed between the front substrate and the rear substrate to define plural discharge cells(18) therebetween. Address electrodes(12) are formed at positions corresponding to the discharge cells, and display electrodes(25) are formed to cross the address electrodes. A dielectric layer(28) is formed to cover the display electrodes, and is colored by a first color. A protective layer(29) is formed on the dielectric layer, and is colored by a second color which is subtractively mixed with the first color. A phosphor layer(19) is formed in the discharge cell, and a filter portion(40) is formed on the front substrate. The filter portion has a light guide(43) and a member(41) for preventing reflection of external light.
