The method involves arranging a tubular or rod-shaped ceramic body as a fuse carrier between pole caps (5), which are arranged on a front side of an electric circuit. An optically perceivable change is provided as a reason of a degradation of a melting conductor (3). A change of fuse (1) is effected by overvoltage, overload and short circuit on a basic of a thermal effect from a consequence of melting of the melting conductor, where distortion and/or impracticality of the fuses is visible by the change of the fuses. An independent claim is also included for a fuse comprising a tubular or rod-shaped ceramic body as fuse carriers.
