An up/down sports mode switch of an automatic transmission is provided to simplify an installing work process by installing only one switch as well as making to sense up/down in a sports mode. An up/down sports mode switch of an automatic transmission comprises up/down stoppers(1,2), a switch(3), a pushing unit and a judging unit. The up/down stoppers are installed to both sides of a speed change lever(L) so as to limit up/down positions when the speed change lever is moved to the up/down positions. The switch is pushed down and generates a transmission signal when the speed change lever is contacted with one of the up/down stoppers. The pushing unit is installed to the speed change lever, and pushes the switch down when the speed change lever is moved to the stopper of an opposite direction including no switch. The judging unit judges if it is a down signal or an up signal when the switch is pushed down.
