The system has a fluid circuit having a trap circuit with a closing device (10), where the fluid circuit is connected to an operating unit as a load e.g. cylinder. The closing device has a closing piston (11) freely movable back and forth within a cylinder for closing and opening a fluid connection in the trap circuit based on a control medium supplied from a control valve of the closing piston. The closing piston has an operating pressure surface in an end and a control pressure surface in another end. The operating pressure surface lies in a circulating ring surface as a valve seat. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a switching arrangement with a fluid cylinder (2) a method for operating a fluid weight compensation system (3) a method for operating a trap circuit.
