A mechanism for damping key-off vibration of a vehicle and a method using the same are provided to damp vibration of the vehicle by suppressing rotation of a water pump for suppressing movement of a crank shaft related to the piston movement of the vehicle. A mechanism for damping key-off vibration of a vehicle includes a key set(40), an ECU(50), a solenoid(70), a flow channel member(32), and a coolant cutoff valve(80). The key set turns on/off the operation of the vehicle. The ECU is connected to the key set, and performs control operation in accordance with the on/off operation of the key set. The solenoid is turned on or off in accordance with the control signal of the ECU. The flow channel member is connected to a water pump mounted on the engine of the vehicle, and serves as a coolant flow channel. The coolant cutoff valve moves in the direction of cutting off the channel of the flow channel member when the solenoid is off. |
