METHOD FOR HANDOVER PROCEDURE OF USER TERMINAL DURING POWER SAVING OPERATION IN CELLULAR SYSTEM

A method for handover of a terminal during power saving operation in a cellular system is provided to request handover to a target cell after being assigned with radio resources from the target cell while the terminals perform handover, thereby minimizing processing delay by the handover. A handover method of a terminal comprises the following steps of: determining whether to perform handover or not based on information received from a source cell(302); obtaining uplink synchronization with a target cell and requesting uplink radio resources to the target cell selected according to the above step(303); transmitting a handover request message to the target cell through the uplink radio resource, assigned by the target cell, by performing a control operation according to a radio link control command received from the target cell(305); and transmitting a handover complete message as a response if a handover execution message is received from the target cell(308).
