The method includes the steps of controlling two of four pairs of twisted wires (86-89, Fig. 18, only four wires 92, 93, 98, 99 visible in fig.1) extending from a cable sheath 72 by selecting a degree of twist ranging from untwisted to fully twisted and passing each pair of the two pairs of twisted wires and the two pairs of controlled wires through a channel (65-68, Fig. 13) in a second insert 61. Any twisted wires are untwisted to form four pairs of untwisted wires and each untwisted wire is passed through a trough (19, Fig. 12) in a passageway 53 of a first insert 51. The first insert is inserted into an internal chamber 24 of a plug housing 21 and the second insert is inserted into the internal chamber of the plug housing such that a front end 62 of the second insert is proximal a rear end 54 of the first insert. The method also includes aligning openings 57 in the first insert 51 with slots 31 in the plug housing 21 and engaging an insulation displacement contact 41 with each wire by inserting the insulation displacement contact through one of the slots 31 in the plug housing and the aligned opening 57 in the first insert. |
