The system has a re-circulation loop for returning unreacted hydrogen to a fuel cell stack (12). A hermetically sealed assembly comprises a blower (116) portion for pressurizing hydrogen in the re-circulation loop. A source of make-up hydrogen is introduced in a motor (114) portion of the sealed assembly at a pressure greater than the pressure in the blower portion of the sealed assembly. An Independent claim is also included for a method of replenishing hydrogen in a fuel cell stack.
