The device (6) has a support (7) adapted to rest on a cooking appliance i.e. electric fryer. A basket (1) is mounted to be movable with respect to the support between a raised position and a lowered position. A handle (3) is mounted for movement between a position to place the basket in the raised position and another position to place the basket in the lowered position. The support includes a hub (8) mounted to have specific degree of rotational freedom. The handle is connected to the hub for movement between the positions.
