PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a pump efficiency at a high level by a method wherein the discharging capacity of a compressor is changed so that the actual torque of an electric motor is maximized, and the number of rotations of the electric motor is controlled so as to obtain an objective air-conditioning capacity. SOLUTION: When the starting switch of an air conditioner for a vehicle is thrown and an engine E is stopped, the excitation of an electromagnetic clutch Mg is intercepted to intercept the transmission of a driving force between a compressor 110 and the engine E, while a motor 120 is excited to operate the compressor 110 by the electric motor 120. In this case, an ECU(electronic control unit) 600 operates an air volume changing mechanism Vc to change the discharging capacity, so that the actual torque of the motor 120 becomes the maximum torque available from the motor 120, and controls the number of rotations of the motor 120 so as to obtain an air-conditioning capacity determined by an air-conditioning sensor 610 and the set value of a temperature setting means 620. |
