A plasma display device and a method and an apparatus for driving the plasma display device are provided to prevent damage to a scan IC by enabling a switching process to normally generate voltage to be delivered to a scan electrode. A plasma display device includes plural first electrodes, a scan circuit(430), first and second capacitors(C1,C2), and a first transistor(Ysc). The scan circuit is connected to the first electrodes. The scan circuit selectively applies first voltages to some of the first electrodes, and applies second voltages to the rest. The first capacitor is charged with a third voltage. A second capacitor is charged with a second voltage from the scan circuit. The first transistor includes a first electrode connected to first terminals of the first and second capacitors, and a second terminal connected to a first voltage source. When the voltage charged in the second capacitor reaches a second voltage, the first transistor performs a switching process so that a charging path is formed and the first capacitor is charged through the charging path.
