Application of a burner device in a fuel cell system

The device (10) has a mixture zone (20) connected upstream of a combustion chamber (26), and supplied with a fuel e.g. gasoline, gas by using a fuel gas supply line (22, 24). The gas is mixed with combustion air and/or combustion mixture in the zone. An anode exhaust gas of a fuel cell or a fuel cell stack is supplied to the zone over the line. The device works as a starting burner during a starting phase of a fuel cell system, while the mixture supplied to the device is burned even in the absence of anode exhaust gas supply.
