A method and an apparatus for inspecting an insulation state are provided to improve inspection efficiency by performing inspection from wiring patterns with an electrically large influence to the wiring patterns with an electrically small influence. An apparatus for inspecting an insulation state includes a memory unit(51), a selector(6), a power source(2), a detector(4), and a calculator(53). The memory unit stores areas of wiring patterns on a board as area information for respective wiring patterns. The selector selects a wiring pattern to be inspected according to an inspection order. The power source applies a voltage across the wiring pattern to be inspected. The detector detects an electrical property of the pattern to be inspected, when the voltage is applied on the pattern. The calculator calculates a resistance for determining an insulation state of the pattern to be inspected based on the electrical property. The calculator selects the widest wiring pattern as the first pattern to be inspected. |
