The present invention relates to the use of a sphingolipid and a cholesterol lowering agent, wherein said cholesterol lowering agent is a HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, for the manufacture of a combined preparation for simultaneous, separate or sequential use in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia in a subject in need thereof.
