A valve unit has a block like valve housing 12 in which valve cartridges 14 are arranged with a plurality of valve blocks 16 being fastened to the valve housing. A control block 18 is provided for the control of the valves which is fastened to the valve housing and which has an input electrical control line and a plurality of output electromagnetic valve control lines, one to each valve block underneath a protective cover 22. The valve block contains pressure sensors (24,26 Fig.2) for gathering diagnostic pressure information e.g. filter blockage, on an external surface of the block which mate with ports on the housing, and/or a structure borne sound sensor (28). The sound sensor is used to determine the closure state of any of the valves. |
