A masking paste (30) used as a mask (33) for controlling diffusion when diffusing a p-type dopant (31) and an n-type dopant (32) into a semiconductor substrate (10) and forming a high-concentration p-doped region (12) and a high concentration n-doped region (13) is provided that contains at least a solvent, a thickening agent, and SiO 2 precursor and/or a TiO 2 precursor. Further, a manufacturing method of a solar cell is provided in which the masking paste (30) is pattern-formed on the semiconductor substrate (10) and then the p-type dopant (31) and the n-type dopant (32) are diffused.
