Image display apparatus inverts image of object so that erect real image of object is viewable in free space

A microlens array installed within a housing between object and opening inverts the image of the object so that an erect real image of the object is viewable in free space. A Fresnel lens (41) of positive refractive power provided at the microlens array increases the viewing range of the image. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) micro lens; and (2) image display method.
