A method and an apparatus for changing user set information of a telematics terminal are provided to improve user convenience by automatically changing the user set information on the telematics terminal according to current users. An apparatus for changing user set information of a telematics terminal is mounted on a detachable front panel(120) of the telematics terminal and includes a first memory(121) and a controller(111). The first memory stores prestored user set information for setting various functions of the telematics terminal. The controller is mounted on a main portion(110) of the telematics terminal. When the detachable front panel is connected to the main portion of the telematics terminal, the controller reads the user set information stored in the first memory of the front panel, and sets the functions of the telematics terminal based on the read user set information.
