A plasma display device and a driving apparatus thereof are provided to protect a circuit element from damage by preventing unnecessary current flow from a high voltage source to a low voltage source. A scan electrode driver includes a sustain driver(410), a reset driver(420), and a scan driver(430). The sustain driver includes a power recovery portion and transistors. The reset driver gradually increases the voltage of a Y electrode from Vs voltage to Vset voltage during a rising period of a reset period. During a falling period of the reset period, the reset driver gradually decreases the voltage of the Y electrode from Vs voltage to Vnf voltage. The scan driver applies VscL voltage to the Y electrode so that discharge cells are selected during the address period. The scan driver applies VscH voltage to the Y electrode of the discharge cells, which are not to be turned on, during the address period.
