An image device and a still image capturing method thereof are provided to capture a desired screen, thereby improving user's convenience. A still image capturing method comprises the following steps of: inputting broadcasting streams processed by a tuner demodulation circuit to a capture processing block(S600); extracting only an I picture out of the input broadcasting streams(S610); storing the extracted I picture temporarily in a temporary memory(S620); capturing the I picture for a predetermined time or until a user stops a capture function(S640); converting the captured I picture into an image file(S650); storing the image file in a capture memory(S660); displaying the image file(S670); and storing an image file selected by the user in a selective memory(S680).
