A field sequential color LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to sequentially turn on red, yellow green, emerald green and blue color lamps to improve color reproducibility of an LCD panel and enhance the display quality of the LCD panel. A field sequential color LCD includes an LCD panel(20), a scan driver, a data driver, a backlight unit(30), a backlight driver, and a system controller. The LCD panel includes a plurality gate lines, a plurality of data lines, and a liquid crystal pixels. The scan driver applies scan signal to the gate lines. The data driver applies data to the data lines according to the scan signal to drive the liquid crystal pixels. The backlight unit is located behind the LCD panel and includes red, yellow green, emerald green and blue color lamps(36). The backlight driver controls on/off of the respective color lamps of the backlight unit. The system controller provides image data to the data driver and outputs a control signal to the data driver, the scan driver and the backlight driver to control the operations of the data driver, the scan driver and the backlight driver. |
