The device (2) has a sensor (4) comprising a film provided with a transducer, where a surface of the transducer stays in fluid-connection with a liquid (8) e.g. water. The film is arranged between the surface and the liquid. A controller (6) is connected with a transducer under normal operating condition, where the controller determines concentration of impurities i.e. ionic materials, within the liquid. A cleaning chamber is arranged between the surface and the film, where the cleaning chamber includes an inlet and an outlet.
