#CMT# #/CMT# The system has a diagnostic unit (210) receiving signals e.g. speed measurement signal, from sensors (C1-Ck) and determining values of state variables from the signals. The variables describe configurations of failure of elements of an aircraft and systems composed of the elements. A calculation unit (220) calculates a cost function from the values and cost values stored in a database (240). The function describes a loss of operational capacity of the aircraft for an operational function. An input/output interface (230) presents characteristic information of the loss of the capacity. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# System for monitoring an element of an aircraft (claimed) and warning a pilot about failure of the element such as overheating of a hydraulic circuit, of the aircraft. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The system enables a pilot to know the operation capacity of the aircraft and to analyze the detail of the failure of the element in a rapid and synthetic manner.
