The method involves encoding a current image till a required quality level is reached, for providing an encoded current image. The current image is reconstructed at the level by implementing the encoded image and a reference image for the quality level, to provide a reconstructed current image of the level. The reference image of the current image is obtained at an initial quality level for providing a prediction image for the initial level. A differential texture refinement is determined based on the prediction image and the reconstructed image of the required level and is encoded.
