A terminal having a touch panel and a wrong operation prevention method thereof are provided to obtain border areas at certain intervals between function keys displayed on a screen, and to notify a user that touch inputting occurs in the border areas to induce the user to input again, thereby preventing wrong operation for incorrect touch inputting. A touch panel(100) has a detection sensor for sensing whether function keys are contacted with external keys. A processor(140) confirms whether a contact position sensed through the detection sensor is a border area between the function keys, and notifies of the confirmed results. The function keys are equipped by comprising active areas and inactive areas. If the contact position is put in the border area between the function keys, the processor displays the active areas and recognized areas so that the areas are visually recognizable.
