The device has two single pole switches (32, 34) e.g. relay, mounted between a dual reversing switch (30) and a winding (20) of a motor (14) and between the dual reversing switch and another winding (22), respectively. A third single pole switch (50) is linked to respective inputs of the switches (30, 32) in parallel with the dual reversing switch. A control unit (36) controls a state of third switch for each one of positions of the reversing switch. The windings are supplied with power based on the state of the switches.
