A unit for preventing overcharge of an electric energy storage device and an apparatus having the same are provided to supply large power and reduce heat generation of the apparatus by reducing internal resistance of a relay. A unit for preventing overcharge of an electric energy storage device(20) includes a charge path(A), a bypass path(B), a relay(50), and a relay driving control unit. The charge path is positioned between a power source(10) and the electric energy storage device and transmits charged power of the electric energy storage device. The bypass path is connected to the electric energy storage device in parallel by being branched on the charge path. The relay includes one input terminal(51) connected to the power source and two output terminals(55,56) connected to the charge path and the bypass path respectively. The relay driving control unit detects completion of charging of the electric energy storage device and supplies a conversion driving signal for contact conversion of the relay.
