A composition containing the extract of Lithospermum erythrorhizon is provided to suppress decrease of ceramides by damage of skin barriers and pruritus without side effects, so that the composition is useful for treatment of damaged skin barriers. A food composition for treatment of damaged skin barriers contains the extract of Lithospermum erythrorhizon, which is prepared by using water or C1-C6 organic solvent including methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, butanol, acetone, ether, benzene, chloroform, ethyl acetate, methylene chloride, hexane, cyclohexane and petroleum ether, or the fermented extracts of Saururas chinensis Baill, Houttuynia Cordata and Lithospermum erythrorhizon in a ratio of 1:1:1 to 4:3:1, and is formulated as liquid, tablet, powder, granule or pill, wherein the daily dosage of the composition is 0.01-100 mg/kg.
