摘要 A drive mode controlling apparatus of a hybrid electric vehicle and a method for the same are provided to enable a drive to take some rest during driving and to improve efficiency for saving fuel, by executing Automatic Speed Mode(ASM) program coded for automatic driving of the vehicle. A drive mode controlling apparatus of a hybrid electric vehicle comprises: a microcontroller including ASM program coded for automatic driving with consistent speed and ABM(Automatic Break Mode) program programmed for blocking of vehicle's power source and alarming driver when interval between vehicles narrows; a navigation module providing vehicle operation information and road information; a driving mode controlling module to allow driving of vehicle at constant speed without manipulation of accelerator; a control part to generate a control signal for activating semi-automated driving mode or manual driving mode; a driving part; an ultrasonic sensor part to calculate an interval between vehicles; and a power blocking part to block the power source of motor in activating ABM program.
