The method involves determining characteristics of a spatial position of an object (O), when image contents of successive images of an image sequence of a scene of the object are analyzed by displacement caused by temporal change of the position. Multiple views of the object are recorded as image sequences and temporal derivatives of the change of the position are determined by a set of image recording units of an image recording device (2) i.e. camera. An independent claim is also included for a device for three-dimensional contour determination of an object.
