AREA DETERMINATION METHOD, AREA DETERMINATION DEVICE, IMAGE PROCESSOR, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a class of a specific area of image with inclination more correctly than before.

SOLUTION: An edge image is created based on an image to be processed in image processing. In relation to an edge pixel image which is a pixel representing an edge in a predetermined area of the edge image, a first histogram representing the number of edge pixels which exist in a lateral direction in respective positions of a longitudinal direction of the predetermined areas, and a second histogram representing the number of edge pixels which exist in the longitudinal direction in respective lateral positions are created (#61 and #68). Variances of a breadth of a peak part where a maximum value exceeds a predetermined threshold in the histograms is calculated (#67 and #73). Whether the predetermined area is a table area or a graph area (#78) is determined based on the variance.
