<p>#CMT# #/CMT# An engine (1) includes an IC engine unit (2) and a transmission (3) with a hydrostatic device (6) leading to a drive shaft (4). The hydrostatic device, including a displacement volume adjustable hydraulic pump (12) and an intake volume adjustable hydraulic motor (13), cooperates with the engine unit to transfer torque from the engine unit to the drive shaft. A spur gearing (7) is interposed between the engine and the hydrostatic device. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method to operate an engine in a motorcycle. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Engine for motor vehicle e.g. motorcycle of one- or multi-track and or light- or heavy-type.
