The solar collector has a profiled frame part (1) for forming a housing, where the frame part is formed as a component manufactured in a roll formation process. The frame part is made of a corrosion-resistant and/or coated e.g. color coated, sheet metal. A rear wall is attached to the frame part by clinching or gluing. The sheet metal is provided after uncoiling from a coil and before the roll formation with a recess (2). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a housing of a solar collector.
