The invention relates to a housing (1), especially an explosion-proof hou sing, comprising at least one lower part (3) which is provided with a wall a nd has an opening (5) that can be closed by a flap (4). The flap (4) is moun ted by means of an articulated device in such a way that it can be pivoted b etween an open position and a closed position (7, 8). The aim of the inventi on is to improve such a housing in such a way that several housings can be t ightly adjacently arranged and the inside of the housing can be used entirel y. To this end, the articulated device (6) comprises an articulated lower pa rt (9) arranged in the housing wall (2) and an articulated upper part (11) a rranged on a lower side (10) of the flap (4) facing the housing opening (5) in the closed position (8), the articulated lower part and the articulated u pper part being pivotably interconnected.
