<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller unit capable of easily and inexpensively restraining the abnormal wear or shaving of a contact surface caused by the rotation of a tracking roller, and an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The roller unit has the developing roller R arranged to be opposed to a photoreceptor drum 1 on which electrostatic image information is formed and equipped with the rotary shafts on both sides, and the tracking roller Ta (Tb) inserted through the developing roller R so as to hold a gap between the photoreceptor drum 1 and the developing roller R to be constant, and also capable of rotating in contact with the photoreceptor drum 1.
