A shank installation device (A) capable of being used for a rechargeable electric impact drill in which axial force and rotational torque are applied in an impacting manner to an installation shaft. The shank installation device (A) has an engagement member (17) placed so as to be projectable into a shank installation hole (12A) open to the forward end of an arbor and also has a shank (2) placed on the base end of a drill (50) can be attached by one touch operation to the shank installation hole (12A). The shank installation device (A) has an installation shaft (11A) having a hexagonal cross-section and installed in a bit installation hole (60) formed in the forward end of a drill device (D). An engagement groove (21A) with which an engagement member (17) axially engages is circumferentially provided at a position located away from the base end side of the shank (2) to its forward end side. Mating teeth (20G) having a form projected or receded toward the base end of the shank (2) are provided at the forward end of the shank (2). Engagement teeth (12G) engaging with the mating teeth (20G) are formed at the forward end of the shank (2).
