SHEET SUPPLY DEVICE, AND IMAGE FORMING DEVICE USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide, with a simple structure, a sheet supply device capable of preventing damage to a component such as breakage caused by an abnormal operation of a lifter without adding a special device thereto; and an image forming device using it.

SOLUTION: This sheet supply device is provided with: a paper feed tray 5 storing a plurality of recording sheets P; a bottom plate 60 supporting the recording sheets P from the lower side in the paper feed tray 5; a lifter 70 lifting the bottom plate 60 by a predetermined lifting-up operation to arrange the uppermost recording sheet P in the paper feed tray 5 at a predetermined position; a failure detection sensor 67 detecting a failure in the lifting-up operation; and a failure history database DB created by recording failure history in the lifting-up operation. When the failure history database DB is consulted in a standby state after turning on device power and a failure is continuing, insertion/ejection display of the paper feed tray 5 is carried out.
