<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure swing adsorption process for producing oxygen. <P>SOLUTION: The pressure swing adsorption process is employed for producing oxygen and involves (a) providing at least one adsorption apparatus container that has a first adsorption layer close to a supply end of the container and a second layer closed to the first layer, wherein the first layer has a ratio of the surface area to volume in a range of about 5 to 11 cm<SP>-1</SP>; (b) introducing a pressurized supply gas containing at least oxygen, nitrogen, and water to the supply end, adsorbing at least a portion of the water in the adsorbent of the first layer, and adsorbing at least a portion of the nitrogen in the adsorbent of the second layer, wherein the surface contact time of the pressurized gas with the first layer is in a range of about 0.08 to about 0.50 seconds; and (c) leading a product gas enriched with oxygen out of a product end of the adsorption apparatus container. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
