PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress production of high surge voltage and prevent the breakdown of a semiconductor switching element (FLS). SOLUTION: A load driver with protection feature includes a load connected to a power supply via the make-and-break contact of a relay; semiconductor switching elements, connected in series with the make and break contact of the relay and the load; a control unit having CPU, that controls the passage of current through the semiconductor switching elements and the coil of the relay; and a switching transistor for relay that is connected to the coil of the relay and turns on/off the energization of the coil. While the base of the switching transistor for the relay and the gates of the semiconductor switching elements are connected to the output port of the control unit, the control unit has a function of, when there is a CPU malfunction, outputting an off signal for stopping the energization of the semiconductor switching elements and that of the relay simultaneously; and a delay circuit is placed between the base and the output port.
