PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve user friendliness in facsimile transmission using a network. SOLUTION: In a facsimile transmission system, an image is transferred from a transmission apparatus to a receiving apparatus via a network. In the facsimile transmission system, status information representing a status of the receiving apparatus is redirected to the transmission apparatus via the network in response to a notification request of the status information from the transmission apparatus. In the redirection of the status information, in accordance with a division of the transmission apparatus, selected status information selected from a plurality of status information items is transmitted to the transmission apparatus. The division of the transmission apparatus is performed by classifying the transmission apparatus on the basis of a message that the transmission apparatus transmits via the network when the transmission apparatus requests a notification of the status information.
