The system has a mobile access authorization unit (3) e.g. vehicle key, with an integrated signal transmitting unit (3.4) and a signal receiving unit (2) in a vehicle (1). Data communication (4) takes place between the transmitting unit and the receiving unit in the vehicle. The data communication is deactivatable and/or re-activatable. Access authorization takes place via the data communication between the transmitting unit and the receiving unit in the vehicle. The data communication is deactivated for theft protection and is reactivated for rightful utilization of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method for access authorization to a vehicle.
