The invention relates to the industry involved in the production of locks for securing and protecting goods, property, etc. More specifically, the invention relates to a pre-assembled overlapping lock intended to be installed in (right-hand or left-hand) wood and metal doors. The same lock can be correctly installed on the left- or right-hand side and can actuate the bolt from either side manually and/or with a coded key. No additional operations are required in order to replace an existing product with said new product. The invention's innovations include a luminous plastic knob which glows in the dark and, as such, enables the door or exit to be easily located in case of emergency. The invention is even more complex in that it clearly indicates the open and closed positions. The inventive lock is extremely advantageous in that it can be assembled without tools in a practical and quick manner owing to the interlocking system formed with the cover. Another notable aspect of production relates to the body of the cylinder formed by the body and cartridge, the practical assembly of which dispenses with the need for certain processes and saves time. Similarly, the interlocking system is formed by the catch which traps and secures the cylinder inside the body while the extension prevents the catch from rotating and releasing the cylinder. The inclusion of a braille system for the visually impaired and persons with special needs, who have hitherto been ignored, is completely revolutionary and represents both a social conscience and commercial vision. Finally, the aesthetic appearance of the lock provides added value and sets the product apart from the competition.
